Automating lights on a timer is nice and novel until the next season, and unless you live by the ecuator, your light schedule will be slightly different in the summer than in the winter time. Who's to blame? The sun!. So might as well automate based on when it goes up and down.

To be able to use the sun as trigger for automations, the sun integration must be installed in home assistant.
That should allow to use the sunrise or sunset as triggers for any automation. From turning on the lights to setting up scenes or running scripts.
