Morning Brew
Instead of buying an expensive smart kettle or coffee maker (which can be insecure and still needs to be loaded manually), use a cheap dumb coffee maker with a hard switch plugged into a smart plug.
What You Need
You can get a very fancy and expensive smart kettle or coffee maker with wifi for the hackers to own your network, and still, if you forget to load it the night before your smart device will be as dumb as a rock and useless in the morning.
Most dumb kettles and coffee machines have a hard switch, you can unplug and plug the state of the device is what says on the switch. (as supposed to the new soft buttons that you don’t know if they’re on or off)
Steps
- Program the smart plug to turn on at the time of your choosing.
- Plug the coffe maker or kettle to the smart plug
- Load the coffee maker or kettle
- Turn it on.(this is key)
- Make sure the smart plug is off
Alternatively, the trigger doesn’t need to be on a time, can be anything else.
